Beats are heard at the rate of 12 every 5 sec when 2 open organ pipes of lengths 84cm and 85cm are sounded together in their fundamental modes.Find the velocity of sound in air.(An organ pipe has an anti node at each end).
since in open organ pipe fundamental frequency = V/2L
and beats frequency = difference in frequencies
here beats= 12/5
f1=100V/2×85
f2=100V/2×84
12/5=100V/2×84- 100V/2×85
